Frank W. “Pete” Elliott, Jr. 76, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Duke University Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was a native of Granville County and was the son of the late Frank W. and Margaret D. Elliott. He was raised by his uncle, the late Morgan T. Daniel and wife, Marguerite A. Daniel. Pete was an active member of Geneva Presbyterian Church, serving as Deacon, Elder, a member of the choir, and was on the Finance Committee. He retired from the Oxford Tobacco Research Station after twenty-eight years of service and was also a farmer. Pete was retired from the Providence Fire Department and the Granville Rescue Squad. He was a member of the Oxford Masonic Lodge and a member of the Sudan Temple.
Pete enjoyed hunting in his younger years, and after retiring, spent his days riding his John Deere tractors and gator and fishing for striped bass. Together with his wife Mary, and their close friends Dale and Frances, he traveled to all fifty states.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Mary H. Elliott of the home; a son, Stephen T. Elliott (Lisa), a daughter, Amanda E. Stevenson (Jeff), all of Oxford; his loving grandchildren, Zachary T. Stevenson, Caitlin S. Little (Mike), Jordan D. Elliott, Chase G. Elliott and Ashley E. Elliott. He is also survived by Harriett D. Young (Bob) of Oxford, and two nephews, Thomas W. Young (Kristin) of Alexandria, Virginia and Ronald D. Young (Karen) of Apex.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, March 16, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 at Geneva Presbyterian Church and at other times at the home of Stephen and Lisa Elliott, 4518 James Royster Road, Oxford, N.C.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 17, 2017 at Geneva Presbyterian Church, 4620 Culbreth Road, Oxford, N.C. by Rev. Dr. Fred Westbrook. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
